Parents start to complain
of nails in the driveway and paint on the
floor because “the boy is always building
something”.
First trip to Disneyland --
Tomorrowland's futuristic architecture leaves
indelible impression.
Continual perusing of design
and lifestyle magazines leads to a lot of
design daydreaming and prototype building.

Graduates –- Lincoln
High School (somehow w/honors)
Studies music theory while
working as a chef's apprentice and other ”character-building” jobs.
Opens bar with a high school
friend. Due to lack of funds, designs and
renovates entire interior himself.

|
Sells bar and opens café in
S.F.'s North Beach. Again by necessity, responsible
for design and construction of interior and
fixtures. Starts making furniture for café on
roof of his apartment building. Sells café and
through the cajoling of friends starts designing
furniture full-time.
